I'm not really buying the whole idea that the dinosaur fully emerged itself in water to catch prey. Why? Just look at the nasal openings. Then look at the nostrils placed on your modern day croc and their ancestors. Didn't we start out thinking Spinosaurus swimmed but cancelled that out for this very reason?
I'm not saying I'm an expert. Just an educated enthusiast.
And yeah, I was worried about the looks of the new dromaeosaurs, mostly their fingers. But that actually made a lot of sense. This really doesn't.
I think maybe there was some swimming involved but that net geo illustration was a bit of an exaggeration.
We might never know.
